Community Exhibits

Exhibit check in: Sunday September 7, 2-4pm. Monongalia County Building: 270 Mylan Park Ln

Exhibit pick up: Sunday September, 14, 12-2pm. Mylan Park Building: 111 Mylan Park Ln

General Rules:

1. Entries must be produced/made by the exhibitor

2. All exhibitors must be Monongalia County residents.

3. Exhibits that do not conform to rules will be disqualified.

4. No exhibits will be accepted outside normal check-in hours. Exhibits cannot be picked up before the normalpick-up hours.

5. When there is no competition, a ribbon may be given (if worthy). If in a class no exhibits are worthy, ribbons will not be awarded. The decision of the judges is final.

6. Fair officials will take every precaution for the safe keeping of exhibits after their arrival and arrangement in the building but is not responsible for any damage or loss that may occur.

7. Each exhibitor is limited to ONE (1) entry per class, except where noted.

8. Exhibits showing excessive spray residue may be downgraded. No wax or oil may be applied to any exhibit.

9. All entries should be clean, free from blemishes, uniform in size, shape, and color, true to variety, free of insects, insect damage, rot, and other diseases.

10. Any item not picked up by 2pm on September 14th will be discarded.

11. Only amateur exhibitors allowed, except where noted. “Amateur” is defined as a recreational hobby, not for livelihood or occupational therapy. “Professional” is defined as involvement in a hobby that results in financial gain for the participant and the participant deems part of their livelihood or occupational therapy.

12. All exhibits must be made by the exhibitor from scratch. No exhibits should be made using a mix, or created at a store, bakery, or factory.

13. Foods for display must be covered using CLEAR plastic wrap.

14. Do not bring food on valuable plates. Place on paper plates.

15. Judges will award ribbons based on quality and variety. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be awarded in each class. Best of show will be awarded in each section.

16. Youth (under 18 years old) will be judged separately from adults (18 years or older).

17. Sugar Free Foods must meet diabetic standards and include a recipe.

18. Fair officials reserve the right to discard foods that are no longer suitable for display.

19. All canned goods must be canned using USDA recommendations.

a. Exhibit in quart or pint jars unless otherwise noted.

b. Use Mason-type canning jars with two-piece lids that are sealed. Bands should be in place for transporting home canned products.

20. Articles which have been previously exhibited in this department are not eligible for competition.

21. Small articles, doilies, place mats, etc., must be mounted on cardboard; dresses, suits, blouses, etc., must be on coat hangers.
