PARADE FLOAT SAFETY
The Morgantown Fire Department has set forth guidelines that shall be followed by those organizations that intend to participate in the local parades with a float or other decorated conveyance.
These guidelines do not come about unwarranted. Situations have occurred at the national level in which parade queens, politicians, and other notable officials have been injured due to usage, construction, and/or operation of such conveyances.
The MORGANTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT has set for the following requirements:
Prior to the start of any parade, or other event where floats may appear, a Fire Department representative will be on hand to make “spot” safety inspections.
THE MORGANTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT WILL DENY PARTICIPATION TO ANY FLOAT, OR OTHER CONVEYANCE, THAT DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE GUIDELINES PROVIDED.
Your cooperation to make all special events more safe and worry-free is greatly appreciated. Individuals requiring any further information should direct all questions to City Fire Marshalls, Morgantown Fire Department, 304-284-7480.
